Sub-standard flour supplied to consumers, many get sick | | | Early Times Report Bhaderwah, Aug 9: Locals in Bhaderwah have alleged that Consumer Affair and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department has added to their miseries by supplying sub-standard flour and further alleged some people have fallen sick after consuming the bread made from said flour. Reports said that many people have fallen sick after consuming Chapatis made from flour supplied by the CA&PD depots in Bhaderwah. "The flour we were provided from local ration depot is mixed with sand and dust, some said, adding, "If we continue to eat the same flour it will certainly make us prone to more health hazards." "They ( the senior CA&PD officials) should look into the matter and investigate it," said a local from Nagar , Bhaderwah. Similar complaints i.e. in regard to poor quality of flour is being supplied to consumers have been received from Qilla Mohalla, Khai Mohalla, Urdrana, Chinta, Iqbal Colony, Bhalla , Seri and Dandi area of Bhaderwah. "Flour supplied by a ration shops in Bhaderwah is of sub-standard quality, another woman on anonymity said further adding, "it is blended with impurities clay, small stones, wheat husk." She also said that many registered rationees even have declined to utilize further the stock of same flour in their homes. All attempts to contact Director CA&PD to get his comment in this regard turned futile as he did not respond to repeated phone calls. |
