Jammu, Aug 13: 70th Independence Day celebrated with great zeal enthusiasm by various educational institutes and others across Jammu on Saturday.
To salute the freedom fighters and pay homage to Martyrs, Model Academy the Prestigious School of MIER celebrated 70thIndependence Day with great zeal enthusiasm at both its branches. To keep alive, the flame of patriotism, a bouquet of cultural program was presented by students in the form of speeches, patriotic dance and poems. To mark the occasion an 'Inter House Patriotic Group Song' competition was organized that awakened everyone's feelings towards our mother land. Students paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. Darwin House stood first followed by Edison House and Newton House. Humming Buds, the Pre-School also celebrated Independence Day both its branches with great pomp and show. The whole atmosphere felt patriotic with decoration of tri colour balloons, national flag, pictures of our freedom fighters and inspirational quotes. A group song 'Mera Mulk Mera Desh' was sung beautifully by the children.
Independence day was celebrated at Trikuta Deep High School with great fervour and enthusiasm .The School was adorned with Tricolour galloons and Flags. The special assembly of the students to commemorate the day created an ambience of patriotism. The school chanting slogans of 'Bharata Mata Ki Jai" and Jai Hind', as students pledged to serve the nation and contribute in its progress.
KIDZEE Pre School of ZEE Learn Ltd. celebrated Independence Day at its branches : Anand Nagar Bohri, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo with great pomp and show. The function started with the students in Freedom fighter costumes. The students were given demo regarding this grand occasion and they actively participated in the celebration by singing group songs and a dance item. The students and Staff delivered the speech regarding the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to make us free from the claws of the British. The motto behind this celebration was to make students aware about the importance of the day, our National Flag and to give them knowledge about the great leaders of our nation who struggled a lot to get India free. We all should regard their sacrifices and remember them always. Activities related to the day were held like Flag making, Rangoli making and Batch making competitions.
Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura saluted the Nation and its freedom fighters on the eve of 70th Independence Day, in the premises of the school. The students of the school marked the occasion by holding a cultural programme highlighting the unity and diversity of India. The entire school was involved in its making to instil patriotic fervour among the staff and students. The Principal of the school, addressed the students on this great occasion and advised them perform their role best to serve the Nation and become good citizens of the soil. The Kindergarten wing of the school also celebrated the Importance of the Red Colour. Red in India is considered holy and it plays an important role in eastern culture, especially the Hindu culture. Students and their teachers were in red dresses today to clear the concept of Red colour among the tiny toddlers.

70th Independence Day of India was celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm by Daffodils Care Convent Pre School Jain Bazar in the school campus. The programme was commenced with an oration by Shevata, She explained the importance of freedom in one's life and throw light on the love of country . After that, flag hosting ceremony was performed by Sheikh Puri Principal with Narinder Gupta Chairperson of the school. A programme based on patriotic theme was presented by little daffodilians. All the children were attired as different freedom fighter such as Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Jhansi Ki Rani and others. On the occasion children spoke the slogans of freedom fighters and enacted also. To add more patriotic order to the day vivid spectacular cultural items and patriotic songs were beautifully presented by kids. Shikha Puri, Principal congratulated the teachers and parents for preparing the young one's to speak such powerful slogans so confidently. She spoke about the scarified made by freedom fighters and the martyr to obtain freedom.
JK Montessorie School celebrated Independence Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted on the eve of Independence day. Children sang beautiful patriotic songs and also shared the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. The school management along with the school staff hoisted the National flag.
70th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show in the premises of Rhyme Time play way nursery school. On the occasion children presented a colourful bonanza including patriotic songs, dances music drama, poem and group dances. Children dressed as great hero of the Nation including freedom fighters and leaders remained the great attraction. Prizes were distributed by the chief guest Retd. Teacher, Vimal Dhrama and social worker in the presence of Santosh Mehta. A good number of parents as well as the members of staff were also present on the occasion.
Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu celebrated Independence day with complete fevour and show in a mood of challenge and great expectation under the theme "through hard work we shall overcome". The celebration started with flag hoisting ceremony followed by National Anthem. A series of colourful dances and songs filled the celebration of 70th Independence day of India. Girls of Class 7th, 8th 9th presented Saraswati Vandana. Boys and girls dressed up in Tricolour performed on the song Chak de India, Little one's dressed up as freedom fighter told about the contribution of leaders who fought for our country. Raghav of class 9th performed Solo Dance. The programme ended with greetings from Principal cum Vice Chairperson, Rohini Aima. She urged the student to be disciplined and work for the national efforts to bring national harmony.
NSS unit of Govt. College of Education, GCOE, Jammu celebrated Independence Day in the college campus and the Chief Guest in the occasion PWD, R & D Daljit Singh Balwal. He highlighted that every Indian takes pride, shows gratitude and salutes the contribution and sacrifice of those martyrs who strived to get independence for the country. The Principal of the College Dr Koushal Smotra, addressed the students and emphasized that the students are the future of the country and Independence Day pass the message to all that as independent members of this independent nation we must have the urge to contribute in our individual way to do good for the country. Senior faculty member of the college Prof. C.L. Shivgotra shared his views to the students by saying that Independence day is rebirth of the nation, it reminds the youth of the nation that they are the hope of any nation who can raise their voice and can fight against all odds of the country to maintain the glory of the past and can take the nation on high. Cultural bonanza was presented by students and NSS Volunteers though variety of patriotic songs, poems and speech by students.
Kartar public school, Barnoti, Kathua celebrated the 70th Independence Day today in a grand way in the school premises. Patron of Kartar educational trust, Ranjeet Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. He unfurled the national flag followed by national anthem and took the salute from NCC contingent of girl's wing of the school, which presented a wonderful march past. Melodious welcome song was presented by school children. Pre-primary kids of school presented a colourful dance item depicting the diverse culture of India. An awesome group song was performed by the students of 8th class and many students also present speech on the importance and about the history of Independence Day. A drama on the freedom struggle was also staged in which students from 1st to 5th classes played roles of different freedom fighters. Punjabi dance, pray for India and fusion dance on the culture of Jammu and Kashmir were also wonderfully performed by the students. While speaking on the occasion, chief guest appreciated the students and the staff of school for wonderful event.
Students of May Fair Schools, Chand Nagar/ Janipur and Chinore celebrated Independence day with full zeal and enthusiasm. A fancy dress competition was organized for pre-primary wing, students were dressed as national leaders. Students presented patriotic dance items for expressing love for the nation. Students of different houses also sang patriotic song with a feeling of patriotism. Speeches were held by teachers and students. The day of freedom was celebrated with love and unity. Director May Fair Schools, Abhey Basur appreciated the students and also threw light on the importance of this day.
Happy Hours Nursery School Rehari Colony, Jammu celebrated 70th Independence Day. India got its freedom from the British Rule on 15th August, 1947. Hence, we celebrate our Independence Day on 15th of August every year. There is national holiday on Independence Day. Independence Day is observed with great enthusiasm all over the country.

On occasion of Independence Day Help Age India, Jammu office celebrated this day with the inmates of old age home Ambphalla Jammu. Jammu office organized a short tour/picnic on 13th august with the inmates of old age home Ambphalla Jammu to Sai International School Jang chak Hira nagar. Elders of home were welcomed by Shiv Kumar shah, school Principal with staff members & school children. Cultural programme was presented by students, latter interaction of children with elders was worth seeing. Students shared their views with old people and patiently hear also their experiences. Sain das Gupta, Chairman of the school appreciated the work of Help Age India. Sohanlal Sharma, Vice chairman of the school extend his thanks on behalf of Sai International school to the organisation Help Age India for working Needy Elderly throughout the country for their upliftment

Alexander Memorial School, Jammu celebrated Independence Day with prominent Senior Citizen of Jammu City members of Golden Pillars Club a unit of the Alexander Memorial School in the school premise. The programme aimed to inspire the young buds by the experience of senior citizens. The programme was introduced by Laxmi Jastoiia a teacher of school and the Principal of the school, Esther William welcomed the esteemed guest. Mohd. Talha told a story on the life of Abdul Hamid a brave soldier of Indian Army, Sumit Bhagat, Adeeba, Mehreen Katoch students of class 4th recited beautiful poems. The school choir also entertained the guest with melodious patriotic songs. The highlight of the programme was a small skit prepared by the students of class 4th & 5th depicting the joys and pains of old age. It was highly appreciated by the senior members, many senior citizens shared their experience of Pre-independence era and inspired the young buds to love their motherland and protect their precious freedom. A prayer for peace was also offered.

Nand Public Kindergarten, a playway school at Durga Nagar Jammu celebrated Independence day in its school campus in which teachers and students actively participated. Students namely Keshav, Kartik, Khushi, Aasmita, Harshita Aaradya of primary classes delivered speeches on the occasion beside little angels also participated in poster making,chart making,Cap making and flag making competition. s Sujata Principal and Parmjeet Singh Managing Director of the institution was also present on the occasion who distributed prizes and sweets among the students and appreciated the hardwork of teachers namely Rohini,Jullie,Seema for their dedication and sincerity in imparting education to the students.
The students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School kick started India's 70th Independence-day celebrations in a unique manner. According to press release, they got an opportunity to witness and put together the largest bag of candy in the world. Called the Yes Thank You Universe bag, it contained 237.875 Kilos of candies made in the three principal colours of the Indian flag. The bag was designed and filled by VIckrant Mahajan, motivator and multiple Guinness World Record holders. It comfortably surpassed the previous Guinness world Record of a bag containing 200 Kilos of candy. The day began with a talk on "Super positivity" by Vickrant Mahajan. Speaking on this occasion, R.K. Dhar Principal of the school said we are fortunate to have someone like Mr. Vikrant Mahajan coming to our school and inspiring our students in the art of achieving their goals in life.
