| On verge of retirement, IGP desperate to get big posting | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 13: An IGP, who is on the verge of retirement, has become so desperate for a big posting that he has started taking rounds of the offices and houses of some BJP ministers.
"Last week, he visited a BJP minister in the civil secretariat and urged him to help him get some big posting before he retires in the next few months," police sources said and added that he was accompanied to the chamber of the minister by the latter's businessman friend.
In over 45 minute meeting, the minister assured the IGP, who belongs to Jammu, that he would recommend his name for the big posting in the next cabinet meeting as and when it was held. After the minister's assurance, he looked happy and had also visited his family here, sources said.
He is presently holding a significant post. Since he was elevated to the rank of IGP in the recent past, he could be shifted to some other place in the next cabinet meeting.
"So that he is not given some insignificant posting, he has activated all his resources in advance. In support of his claim for a big posting in Jammu region, he told the minister that he had already headed Jammu district as SSP," sources said and added, "He wants a big posting in Jammu to enjoy some sort of influence even after his retirement."
Sources said though the minister had assured him to take up his case in the next cabinet meeting, he was unlikely to be given some significant posting as only a few months were left for his retirement. "The government will not post an officer against an important position for a few months," sources opined.
