Jammu, Aug 20 : A high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey today issued a directive to ensure the safety of judicial officers, court staff and courts while they discharge their duties. The court directive came in the August 17, 2016 and August 19 letters addressed by the district and sessions judge, Bandipora, to the registrar general, apprehending damage to the court building and threats to his life and to the life of CJM, Bandipora. A report made on August 20, 2016by a court jamandar and forwarded by Amjad Ahmad Lone, private secretary, by stating that when he was coming to attend his duties, he was stopped by police and CRPF personnel near the Natipora Shrine. Though he disclosed his identity, he was not allowed to proceed towards the court and allegedly beaten up, resulting in internal and external injuries to him. The jamandar alleged that CRPF personnel also used unparliamentary and abusive language against the judges, but he somehow managed to save himself from their clutches. After going the letter, the bench asked the advocate general and ASGI to file response and ensure that no such incident was repeated in future. They were also directed to ensure safety of judicial officers, court staff and courts. The bench also directed IGP, Kashmir, to take sufficient steps to do the needful to avoid such kind of incidents in future. "It is made clear that if any judicial officer or employee is prevented from attending his court duties, contempt of court proceedings will be initiated against the guilty officer," the bench directed.
