Favouritism alleged in teachers' transfers | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 20: Favouritism is alleged to have played a major role in the recent transfers of teachers and masters in the district. A deputation of teachers and masters also met the Director School Education (DSE) in Jammu and voiced their concern over the favouritism and alleged irregularities committed by some members of the transfer committee in their transfers. Two members of the transfer committee were also alleged to have been placed under suspension in this connection, but transfers were not cancelled, said members of Pir Panjal Regional Employees Front (PPREF). They appealed to the education minister and education commissioner to cancel the transfer list and order an independent inquiry into the allegations. PPREF leader S Khan alleged that due to mismanagement of education sector and political interference, educational standard in government schools had been falling day by day as a result which people preferred to send their wards to private schools. "Many schools in the district have been opened just to adjust in them the nears and dears of politicians. Many of them have enrollment below 20 students but have been upgraded to middle standard just to adjust the blue eyeds of ministers, MLAs, MLCs and politicians, but the schools having large enrollment are being run by only one teacher," he alleged. Government primary school at Kapa Khah was upgraded to middle school. The actual enrollment in the school is only 15 students, PPREF claimed. Similarly, the middle school at Chatiyar in Darhal education zone has only 30 students. Seven teachers, including a headmaster, are posted in this school while primary school ar Dana (Darhal) having an enrollment of more than 60 students had only one teacher, sources alleged. |
