Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 20: The medical facilities scenario for the employees working in private sector in the State is so awful that despite being the highest contributor in medical insurance comparatively the employees of center government yet receive nothing for medical facilities.
Sources told Early Times that the employees working in private sector who are insured under Employees State Insurance Corporation contribute 6% of their salary and the employees working in center government contribute 0.025% as medical insurance but in return former get nothing on the name of facilities and put to face difficult situation.
They further informed that the role of State Government is very indifferent toward providing medical facilities to employees working in private factories, firms etc. on dispensaries level. "It has been learnt that State Medical Commissioner had asked the Administrative Medical Officer to tie up with the some nursing homes and diagnostic labs best in the market for cashless medical facilities to the insured person and for which the payment will be done by the ESIC itself but despite these directions nothing has been done by the State Government.
There are around five ESIC dispensaries in the Jammu province which are run by Health Department who deputes staff including doctors for which the salaries and other expensive including medicines, infrastructure are borne by ESIC itself yet the apathetic attitude of the officials at the helms of the affair reluctant to take action on it, they maintained.
Besides, there have been observed many shortcomings in the ESIC Hospitals as most of the staff reach late on the duty including doctors who report on 11 am in the hospital and patients have to wait for long time which create huge inconvenience.
Although in a council meeting of ESIC, it was demanded by the stakeholders of the installation of biometric attendance for punctuality of the staff but same was not accepted due to the pressure exerted by the staff on the members which shows the working culture in the hospital, they informed.
