Need based employees of PDD hold protest, highlight demands

JAMMU, Nov 21: All Jammu Province Casual/Need Based Workers Union, Jammu are about to launch `Kam Chhorh Hartal' from November 28, 2016.
Today, a protest rally of All Jammu Province Casual/Need Based Workers was organised to support their genuine demands including releasing monthly wages from the wages head and regularisation Policy for the workers under the supervision of Akhij Sharma (State President), Shesh Kumar (Jammu Province President), Sham Sharma (Vice President), Sanjeev (General Secretary), Sawar Khan (Secretary). Hundreds of Casual/Need Based Workers participated in the protest rally from different areas of Jammu region. Government has not taking any decision regarding their genuine demands even after 86 days. Many workers died during this period but Power development department has not paid attention to this matter and has not given any compensation to their families. 375 workers are still awaiting their monthly wages till date.
Time to time funds have been released from the Civil Secretariat to Power development department for this purpose but none of it has been distributed to the workers by the PDD, Jammu. Bio-metric work at ground level has not even started in the Jammu province PDD Divisions as orders were already issued in September 2016 from the Chief Engineer E.M. & R.E wing Jammu.
Second round of talk with the union Ministers of India in New Delhi will be starting on 17th November onward. PDD Casual/Need Based workers delegation team led by Sanjeev will present the matter in front of Union Ministers.
Various others members of this union participated in the Protest/Dharna which includes, Vishal, Ashish Verma, Ashwani Kumar, Naresh Sharma, Sharmher Singh, Simranjeet Singh and others.
The main Charter demands of the workers includes release monthly Wages from the Wages Head for last 50 to 60 months, regularisation Policy to Workers, Insurance Policy to Workers, Compensation to Death/Handicapped Workers.
