Kupwara, Nov 26: Two BSF Jawans were injured today after militants attacked BSF convoy in Wadipora village of Langate area in Handwara. According to sources that, "some gun shots were heard today at around 11:30 am as the convoy of Border Security Forces (BSF) was passing through Wadipora village in Langate Handwara. The whole area was cordoned off by a joint team of BSF, Army and Police, after which the search operation was launched in the area, said sources adding that, this is the second attack on security forces in Handwara area in the past 36 hours. However a top BSF official told Early Times that, two BSF Jawans were injured today in a militant attack in Handwara. Militants opened fire on a convoy of security forces in Handwara area of north Kashmir. "Two Jawans have sustained bullet injuries, after which both were hospitalised and their condition is said to be stable, till the last reports came in, the official said. The search operation was launched in Wadipora and its adjacent villages, but militants had escaped from the area, the official added. The official said that, few days back on Nov 24, militants opened fire on a police station in Kralgund in Handwara after which the militants fled from the scene following retaliation by the police. It is pertinent to mention here that, about three months back on Sep 7, militants had attacked on army convoy in the same area of Langate in which three jawans were injured. Earlier on the mid night of Aug 17, army convoy was attacked by militants in Khowjabagh area of Baramulla district in which two army men and a police cop were killed. |
