Kishtwar, Nov 26: Ruling PDP's MLC from Kishtwar, Firdous Ahmed Tak, has offered to resign after major differences with party's senior leadership in the district.
In a damage control attempt, PDP general secretary Sartaj Madni held a tea party-cum- workers meeting at the residence of dissent party leader Mushtaq Ahmed Qazi who along with Ghulam Moh-ud-Din Sheikh alias Rahi Master, Raiz Ahmed Zarger and Noor Hussain Malik resigned from the party citing disrespect to them.
As per the details available with Early Times, many PDP leaders were unaware of the tea party diplomacy initiated on the initiative of former MLC Syed Asgar Ali.
Sources said the meeting which took place behind close doors witnessed massive hue and cry as many leaders who have left the party or are silent spoke their heart out and blamed each other and non-party entities or newly joined people for the crisis.
PDP's former district secretary and basic member Suresh Sharma blamed the district committee for ignoring him and other Hindu faces of PDP. Sharma said the party leadership instead of acting against those who worked for BJP during 2014 assembly elections, did not invite many Hindu leaders.
Sources said differences between various groups also came to the fore and the party leadership was slammed for ignoring the genuine party workers who worked wholeheartedly.
Sources said after heated exchange, MLC Firdous Tak offered to resign.
"I am ready to resign. I was in party only because of Mehbooba ji. It was she who inspired me to join politics," sources quoted Tak as saying.
However it was not clear whether Tak offered to resign from the post of MLC or from the post of party district presidentship.
Sources said the timely intervention of Sartaj Madni prevented the situation from taking ugly turn.
PDP's former founder member in Kishtwar, Shakir Siddiqui, was also present in the meeting, but he did not speak. Siddiqui was disqualified from the party membership over allegations of indiscipline.
PDP's ex-district president Farooq Siddiqui, Suresh Sharma, Wasil Doolwal, Bansi Lal, Sajjad Dev, Saleem Akhoon, Noor Mohammad, Ishtaq Waza, Syed Asgar Ali, G M Rahi, Mushtaq Qazi and others attended the meeting.
