JAMMU, Apr 22: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has gone cracking on departments for underperforming. She has till now issued light warnings and these could followed by stern action against under-performing and corrupt officers.
Mehbooba after taking over as the 13th Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir about a fortnight ago has been holding review meetings of the departments. Jammu, Apr 22: The failure of Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department (JKHED) officials to get the funds released from Union government has resulted into delay in establishment of cluster universities and other projects of higher education.
Sources in Higher Education department informed Early Times that for the financial year 2014-15 a total of Rs. 118.14 Crores was earmarked under Rashtriya Ucchtar Shiksha Abhiyaan (RUSA) for six components.
Out of the said amount, Government of India had to release, Rs 106 Crores and Jammu and Kashmir has to cough up Rs. 11.80 Crores as state share.
