'Most of migrant voters deprived of their fundamental right' | Submission of M-forms proved to be useless | | SK Kaw
Jammu, Apr 30: Notwithstanding the tall claims of administration that elaborate arrangements have been made for Kashmiri Pandit migrant voters to exercise their franchise for Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary Seat today left most of the Kashmiri Pandit voters high and dry when many of them found their names missing in the electoral rolls. Polling on Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary seat was held today and for Kashmiri Pandit migrants living in Jammu specific polling stations were established at various places in Jammu where people came to cast their vote since early in the morning. At Govt Higher Secondary School Jagti Colony many people alleged that they could not cast their vote due to non existence of their names in the voter list. Alleging discrepancies in electoral rolls today's voting also, enthusiastic KPs voters finding their names not in voter list lamented that despite submitting M-forms well in time there were a large chunk of Kashmiri Pandit voters who could not cast their vote today. Middle aged Shiban Krishan Raina in his 50s presenting residing at Jagti Camp Nagrota turned furious as after standing a long queue when he was just to vote, he was told that his name is not in the voter list. Furious veteran migrant lamented that despite he had submitted M-forms well in time at the respective zone office not only his name but his family members have not been included in the voter list courtesy concerned authorities. "Either the M-forms if the voters have been thrown into dustbins or have been taken casually because whatever it pertains to migrants is not being taken seriously by the authorities, another KP voter resented further adding, "it seems they (KPs) were being sidelined from voting rights under a planned political conspiracy.' While talking a lady migrant voter Mamtaji said, "My name is there in the voter list but my husband's name was not there. Although we had submitted M-forms together but his name didn't surface in the voter list today.' Another elderly voter said that M-forms that were submitted at the respective zone office proved to be useless on it bore no fruits to us as many of us were deprived from right to vote. "It (filling up of M-forms) was just wastage of time only, she said adding, "as nobody at zone offices seemed to be interested to entertain the forms, she lamented citing many KP voters going without casting their votes. |
