Srinagar, Apr 30: Taking strong action against the face book groups for posting "incorrect, frivolous and fake information" on social networking sites, police have registered case against the administrators of these pages.
According to police sources 12 persons across Kashmir for posting "incorrect, frivolous and fake information" on social networking sites.
A police spokesman said, "some mischievous elements have been posting Incorrect, frivolous and fake information on social networking sites particularly Face book."
The pages, he said, include: 'Kashmir News Agency, Loving Kashmir, Youths of Downtown-Kashmir, 24X7 Breaking News, Kashmir Banega Pakistan, Pahallan the city of Hurriyat G, Ganderbal News Agency, All (J&K) Breaking News Alert, True Muhajid, Election Boycott Bandipora, Voice of Kashmir Youth and Youths of Down Town.'
Spokesman further said that police have initiated action and the persons running these pages have been identified and 12 have been arrested so for in this connection. "Action has been initiated against the page administrators who have been found copying and pasting wrong information of the above pages," spokesman further added.
Earlier the officials had clarified the news report regarding poll staff vehicles attacked and denied that any of the staffer was injured in the stone throwing attack.
A senior police official has said that some miscreants are spreading rumors and asked people to remain cautious against such elements spreading false information over Facebook and other medium in the valley. |
