NC may back stab Congress in Ladakh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 30: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) is yet again on the spree of back stabbing the Congress party in Ladakh region by giving support to an independent candidate from Kargil area. The local NC leaders of Ladakh are not ready to support Congress candidate from Leh, T Samphel and thus they like 2009 are supporting local independent candidate. As per the seat sharing pact, Congress got three seats, Jammu-Poonch, Udhampur-Doda and Ladakh seats to contest whereas NC got all three seats of Kashmir valley. Both these parties had to support the candidates of either parties but in Ladakh it is not visible. Sources said that NC leaders of Kargil wanted to get a local NC candidate for the elections but Congress chose a man from Leh. "It is the history of the region that Kargil, mostly dominated by Shia Muslims, ever support Leh candidates, the area which is dominated by Buddhists," they added. Sources further said that the council election of Kargil, where Congress won and NC lost, led to the internal rift between NC and Congress leaders. This is visible these days when polls will be held in this cold desert of world on May 7. At present there are four candidates in the fray for Ladakh seat and Congress candidate is already facing tough competition from BJP candidate from Leh and an independent candidate from Kargil may sweep the elections. The local Congress leaders of Kargil are also aware of this fact but they can't ignore the party line and thus they are mum on the issue. Now, it will be upto people of the area as which region, Kargil or Leh, will vote more and if there will be visible difference in polling percentage from wither side, it will be easy to predict a winner. |
