Nepotism rules roost in Estates Department | | | K Koushal JAMMU, June 25: 'Nepotism and favoristim' continue to rule the roost in state administration making influential to emerge as beneficiaries. According to sources, one Sunil Gupta, a Government employee was allotted accommodation of Estates Department at set no.6-A, Lower old Ahata Amar Singh, Jammu on April 28, 2011. "His pleasure of owning a Government accommodation got spoilt completely when he found the accommodation allotted against his name has a 'tick' within the flat who claims only a room (not the whole set) within house, rued Sunil Gupta. He said, "despite moving from pillar to post, one room within accommodation allotted to his name could not be vacated by the Government employee who illegally is occupying a room owing to the fact that he is posted in Accountability Commission. The aggrieved, Sunil Gupta stated that he had approached all the wings of the police including Crime Branch, Vigilance etc but till date the room was not vacated. He further said that the matter was also brought into the notice of Principal Secretary of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in August 2011 but nothing was done on ground level. Later, information was also sought by the aggrieved from the Estates Department regarding details of the allotment and action against the illegal allottee under RTI Act but the PIO said that they have not taken any action against him at both Directorate as well as Deputy Director Levels which stated that all this is going with their connivance to appease some countable heads. |
