Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 25: Mission 44 Plus on mind, as the BJP central leadership is focussing on strategy for Assembly polls, the pro active mode of leaders incharge from New Delhi are giving anxious moments to some sitting MLAs as also to a couple of big wigs at the state level. Reason: a signal has gone from quarters which are decisive in finalizing names for mandate that they may be dropped this time from the final list even as they continue to be front runners to claim the same. In order to avoid repetition culture as also on the basis of winnability factor, the Party is likely to give tickets to some new faces on some constituencies in Jammu region.
Sources said notwithstanding the euphoria of unprecendented victory in LS polls, the party leadership is not leaving any chance for forthcoming Assembly polls for any complacency to creep in or tread any step without serious consideration on all fronts. Stalwarts from Central leadership who are leading the poll preparedness themselves from the front are giving serious thought to each and every aspect, particularly on selection of candidates for contesting polls. They are thoroughly assessing the profile, performance and public image of the probable candidates on the basis of which the final list of candidates would be formulated who would get the tickets.
Sources also said what is giving anxiety to some sitting MLAs is the fact that their report card under consideration of the incharge (Prabharis) leaders from Centre carries some negative remarks assessed or judged on various parametres during the past over five years. In fact the leaders have also given go ahead signal to some sitting MLAs whereas few have been left in this nod in terms of pulling up socks for the polls, sources said adding that this move has also made the left out MLAs a worried lot. A couple of senior leaders of the state unit who are more than confident in securing the ticket too are restive as they have not been conveyed any such message or signal, say sources adding that it is mostly their style of functioning over the last few years which have snatched the chance of securing ticket from the party for forthcoming Assembly polls. As these leaders who claim to be nationalists or saviors of Dogra land and heritage or cause of Jammu in general, have maintained distance from masses on ground and taken workers for granted most of the times, or even kept the matters lingering on, all this has been taken serious note of by the central leadership as undesired conduct, sources further said.
Some of the sitting MLAs have only promoted their own cause or that of only their own constituencies and paid no heed to general cause or workers of the party over these years and this conduct has not gone well in the eyes of central leadership assessing profiles at individual level, sources said adding that even those whom party would consider giving tickets would be judged on the foremost criteria as to what kind of image do they hold in the eyes of public.
