Congress tickets on sale, alleges Subash Sharma | Mangat Ram's son to contest on PDP ticket | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Sept 2: Already facing dearth of potential candidates in Kathua district, Congress today received a severe jolt when veteran party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma declared to support his son Subash Sharma, who has decided to contest assembly election from Kathua segment as candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mangat Ram Sharma alleged that Congress leadership had sidelined him due to his age. "I have served the party for more than five decades and in exchange of my more than five decades service, present Congress leadership is humiliating me at the last stage of my political career", Mangat Ram Sharma, who was Deputy Chief Minister when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was chief minister of the State, told reporters. Praising Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Sharma said that my son has decided to contest election on the mandate of PDP from Kathua. "I will support my son from Kathua district," the veteran Congress leader said. "The way party leadership has been treating me, I have no option but to explore other options", Sharma said and warned that he would not hesitate to take extreme steps if party leadership continues to ignore him. Subash Sharma, launched a scathing attack at Congress leadership and said that leaders who have lost their own elections have been made incharge of J&K State. "How come those leaders who themselves failed to win their own elections would ensure victory of party candidates in Jammu and Kashmir", Sharma said and alleged that Congress leaders were collecting money in exchange of giving mandates to the party leaders. Launching a direct attack on AICC general secretary Ambika Soni, Subash Sharma said, "Soni failed to win elections but she has been deputed to ensure victory of party in JK. How strange!" |
