Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 17: Making an ideological departure from its agenda of abrogation of article 370, BJP has focused itself completely on establishing its mission 44+ and is trying every political gimmick to accomplish the mission. Instead of remaining firm on Prime Minister Narendra Modi slogan of "Abrogation of Article 370" in Jammu and Kashmir which he said during his Lalkar Rally in Jammu pre Lok Sabha polls, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders which include National general secretary Ram Madhav and union cabinet Minister V.K Singh who recently visited Kashmir while taking U-turn from their previous stands said that 'abrogation of Article 370 was never an agenda for BJP, instead party leadership is committed to provide good governance and initiate developmental programmes in the state.' BJP Kashmir leaders Like Hina Bhat going far ahead of top brass leadership term abrogation of article 370 impossible and threaten to pick gun if the law is abrogated ever. BJP which is all set to contest upcoming assembly polls on around 70 seats has fielded 32 Muslim candidates across the state, 40% of their total candidates among which 25 Muslims have been fielded from Kashmir Valley, 6 from Jammu region and one from Ladakh. Party leadership which is eying migrant votes of Kashmiri Pandits across the country particularly in areas like North Kashmir having around 8000 migrant votes of Kashmiri Pandits as election commission\ of India has decided to allow parcel voting like it allowed during Lok Sabha polls in Ladakh region where BJP candidate won by mere 16 parcel votes has also fielded four Kashmiri Pandit candidates to fetch migrant votes of Kashmiri Pandits in many constituencies like Sopore main of North Kashmir, besides party has fielded one Sikh candidate and three candidates from Budhism religion from Ladakh region. Besides Party leadership has put the issue of Article 370 out of the poll frame as said by top brass leadership during their recent visits to the state, party has moved far ahead than what it did in previous assembly elections in the state as in 2008 BJP fielded 24 Muslim candidates and seven Kashmiri Pandits out of a total 60 candidates in Jammu and Kashmir and bagged 11 seats from Jammu region and in 2002 BJP fielded 17 Muslims candidates out of 58 seats it contested and won only one seat. In Jammu region where BJP according to analysts gained some Public support after selling abrogation 370 slogan during Lok Sabha Poll campaigning, Party leadership has fielded Muslims candidates in Rajouri and Poonch areas contrary to what it used to in previous elections and instead of Hindu candidates in Jammu region it has given tickets to six Muslims in Jammu region as well. Back in Kashmir BJP is using all means and measures to tie hidden alliances with 1 to 3 little known parties who usually won one or two seats to make themselves worthy for seeking alliance for next government of Jammu and Kashmir.
