CPPWU demands imposition of penalty to GVK for delaying resumption of work | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Feb 3 : Chinar Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) district Kishtwar has urged upon the Managing Director J&K Power Development Corporation to impose penalty of Rs.200 crore to M/s GVK Power Development for unnecessary delay into the resumption of work upon the Rattle HE Project. Addressing the gathering, chairman Joginder Bhandari said that the GVK has stopped its work over the project on July 17, 2014 without showing any solid reason and consequently about 493 workers were retrenched by its sub-contractor M/s L&T as a result of which the youths became jobless. He has urged upon the state government to black list the GVK for its failure to left the work of Rattle HE project half way when the state government had entered into MoU with the management of GVK for a period of 35 years. He informed that the Rattle HE project is having 850 MW generating capacity of power and had been allotted to GVK on BOOT basis (Build, Own, Operate and Transfer) for a period of 35 years to GVK but it is a matter of great concern that the said agency failed to provide employment to local unemployed youths of the district as per the MoU and left the work half way. He urged upon the state government to provide the execution of Rattle HE project to any other agency having worked in J&K state in hydroelectric projects as GVK has failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people particularly of unemployed youths of the district and demanded handing over of the execution of the project to any other agency in the larger interest of the people of the area. Among those who were presented in the meeting included Mohammad Amin Butt, Bashir Khan, Tariq Patri, Anil Sharma, Mohammad Khalil Tapal, Javed Malipath. |
