BJP MLA plays caste card to secure high Chair | Beyond 'sabkasaathsabkavikas' | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 3: While parleys between BJP and PDP are reported to be at the final stages to form a Coalition Government in the state, several over ambitious MLAs of BJP have started planting frivolous reports suggesting that the party rank and file was backing them for the post of Deputy Chief Minister which is likely to go to BJP in case Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is named the Chief Minister. Bali Bhagat, who managed to get mandate from Raipur Domana reserved seat in the last assembly elections in place of sitting party MLA, despite resentment from within the party and the people of the constituency who were not ready to accept an outsider as their representative. Sources within the party disclose that Bali Bhagat, who has been party general secretary of the party had lost trust of the people of Ramban and desperately wanted a new constituency to contest from, but after emerging victorious riding on Modi wave, he is playing caste card project himself as a candidate for the post of Dy CM, Speaker of the LA or at least a minister in the coalition government which is likely to take over later this month. It is strange that while BJP has been emphasizing on development beyond divisions on the basis of religion, religion and caste, it has been said in the press note that "BJP leaders belonging to Brahmin and Rajput communities have been adequately accommodated by the party high command at the highest level the schedule cast leaders in the party have been feeling neglected after they were isolated in the party hierarchy". Furthering the fragmenting agenda, which in complete departure from the vision of the BJP, it has also been said in the press note that since BJP had nominated a Brahmin and a Rajput as candidates for the RS polls, there was resentment within the leaders belonging to reserved categories and same could be addressed only if Bali Bahagat was named for the post of Dy. CM in the next government. |
