J&K bracing up for BJP-PDP alliance before 7? | 7 Feb, 7 independents & the D-Day | | K Koushal/Arun Singh Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 3: The government formation in Jammu and Kashmir among the atypical allies in People's Democratic Party and Bhartiya Janta Party which has been lingering on since the outcome of assembly polls results now are on a hurried track to make it soon. While the variegated media reports carrying the banner lines suggesting the alliance likely to come up within 10 days , others hypothecating it to be later after the outcome of Delhi elections, still others betting the alliance to be formed after the RS election to four seats, the political grapevine, however have a fourth dimension that says it should come up before February 7 -the likely date to be Feb 5. Ram Madhav, BJP national organizational secretary's visit to Jammu , though being watched as an effort envisaged by the BJP to woo the independent voters for a favor to Chander Mohan Sharma's entry into RS so that balance ratio of 2:2 could be achieved and the Congress stalwart be kept at bay, sources privy to his meet with BJP leadership in Jammu inform that besides enacting the role wooer of taking independents in confidence, Ram Madhav had a secret rendezvous with PDP top brass too to make it quick for the alliance. " It's not only that BJP central leadership sees that wooing the independents only to get clear chit for ChanderMohan can do the wonders alone, the mindset of the valley people too have to be tuned to this arrangement and this can only be done if the alliance gets formulated before Feb 7," said a senior BJP leader in anonymity. BJP state leadership has been given a strong rider from Amit Shah and Co. not to divulge anything to media. The BJP leader further clarified that making an alliance before Feb 7 would give the valley people including the independents also a reason to introspect to honor their RS vote to the right candidate so that their identity too goes well along with the central government as well as the state government. "Voting in favor of the dusking alliance like NC-Cong combine can be suicidal for them as they know it is the central government's favors only that work in Jammu and Kashmir as both the provinces (Jammu and Kashmir) as well as the state as whole depends on the central funding that makes the mare go," he said. This however would be carrying a significant and impacting effect on the independents who hold the key for the elections on the third notification which has PDP's Laway , BJP's Sharma and NC supported Cong candidate Azad in the fray for two seats. The most important facet to the RS elections is that there is no provision of secret balloting and all MLAs voting for their candidates would be openly displayed obliterating any provision for the cross voting. Under such circumstances the transparent and clear mandate would be displayed and the loyalties would be thrown open. February 7 is the D-day and 7 independents inclusive of two Peoples' Conference MLAs would face the litmus test. |
