Rajouri, Feb 3 : Army is preparing to celebrate Nowshera Liberation Day scheduled to be held on February 6. Nowshera Garrison is organising series of events in this connection. According to defence spokesman the celebration will include essay writing and painting competition for children of various ages, Nowshera Cup Volleyball competition between teams of various villages and an Veteran Rally for the veterans and veer naris from Nowshera sector. The rally to be held on 5 February 2015 will be addressed by Major General Saranjeet Singh, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spades Division would primarily address the problems being faced by the Veterans, veer naris and their dependents as also give them an insight into opportunities post retirement in the civil arena. The Nowshera Day will be celebrated on 06 February 15 to mark the gallant action fought by the Indian Army to save Nowshera from Pakistani raiders during 1947-48. On this occasion Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command will lay wreath to honor Naik Jadunath Singh, PVC, the "Saviour of Naoshera", and other brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland. |
