Mild snowfall exposes BSNL's working

KISHTWAR, Feb 3 : Mild snowfall in Kishtwar district today exposed the tall claims of India's largest telecom service provider BSNL as the services were snapped by the authorities as and when the snowfall started in the District and put the customers in lurch.
Many BSNL users informed the "Early Times" that poor service has irked them as the authorities fail to maintain the proper signal of the mobile network. The customers also complained about poor broad band services and continuous breaking of optical cable all along the national highway.
"Breaking of optical cable has become order of the day for BSNL in Kishtwar and the reason for the same is that BSNL authorities instead of laying the cable deep underground--- kept it open as well as vulnerable to frequent cuts" said a broad band customer. The BSNL customers alleged nexus between private companies and BSNL officials for poor services in the district. The prime mobile network service provider has also lost majority of its customers due to poor services each passing day.
The company also fails to maintain the services of WIMAX wireless broadband which is presently under suspension since last over 7 months soon after BSNL shifted its office to new building. Even though WIMAX services are suspended in the District but its customers are regularly receiving the bills. The matter was also brought to the notice of Chief General Manager BSNL Jammu and Kashmir, but he too turned blind eye towards the problems faced by the customers thus raising questions on his integrity as well.
The private telecom companies like "Airtel" is introducing 3G services in the District in next one or two weeks which will ultimately further reduce the customer base of the BSNL in Kishtwar District. The customers also said that many time they fail to get the call through even within own network.
It is pertinent to mention that BSNL authorities installed 3G in Kishtwar District four to five years ago, but fail to make it functional, the reason best known to the officials at the helm of affairs. The BSNL officials also fail to fulfill their promise made by them with regard to installation of EVDO Internet facility in the district.
