PHD Chamber hails FM for separate Power Budget 2015-16 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 23 : PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry J&K Committee has welcomed the presentation of a separate Power Budget for the year 2015-16 and observed that Power Revenue Deficit is the biggest back hole in the economy of state and the sector needs to immediate redressed into. According to spokesperson, the PHD Chamber welcomes-the initiatives for corporatization of JKSPDC as also sale of bonds for the same, early establishment and operationalization of proposed Thermal plant in association with NTPC would also be a good step. Meantime PHD Chamber called for early un-bundling of PDD and hoped that same would be done in a time bound manner in the near future. "Establishment of Transformer Banks to mitigate consumer suffering while dues of Transformer manufacturers also need to be liquidated at the earliest, it added. The Chamber also welcomed the establishment of Chenab Power Management and Training Institute for up-gradation of skill sets of Departmental employees across various levels. PHD Chamber is of the view that the revenue gap Rs/Kwh does not reflect the gap in real terms as fixed monthly demand charges and electricity duty at 22% are also a part of revenue to the State Government and are a substantive amount and urged the government for effective steps to reduce distribution losses across all sectors progressively |
