Punish those who killed pandits or we would approach international bodies: KPSS | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Mar 23:Seeking reinvestigation of killing of Kashmiri pandits since 1989, the Kashmir Pandit Sangarh Samiti (KPSS) today said if persons involved in these killings are not punished, the Samiti will approach International bodies. "We give this ultimatum to the Centre investigate and punish all the culprits, within three months, who are involved in killings of Kashmiri Pandits, including those who helped them to do these heinous crimes against the community since March 15th 1989 till date,\" KPSS president K Tickoo said in a statement here. He said otherwise KPSS is free to knock the doors of International bodies and whatever may be the outcome will be purely on the shoulders of the Centre. He said Kashmir had faced many massacres since the past two decades and police and other executive agencies have worked extra-ordinarily to punish the guilty. But, he said, the incidents where a Kashmiri Pandit was killed still remain unsolved better known to these agencies. Tickoo said Nadimarg killing is one of them as the system had failed miserably to provide justice to the Kashmiri Pandit families who have lost their near and dear ones at the hands of these assassins who worked at the behest of those who wanted Kashmiri Pandits to leave their homeland in distress and despair. Even the investigating agencies have played with the emotions of these families due to their failures to punish the guilty, he alleged. Either the cases are closed for want of evidences or the guilty have been released because investigating agencies deliberately created so many loop holes in the evidences that they could not prove the crime before the competent authorities. Nadimarg Massacre is one these failures of the systems created by the state and Centre and clearly shows how serious they are to punish the killers of Kashmiri Pandits and how much these people who are at helm of affairs are serious about to create the an atmosphere of trust between the system and the Kashmiri Pandit Community. He alleged that one sitting MLA Engineer Rashid, who had nothing to do with the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, their return and rehabilitation, never missed a chance to agitate against the community and others encourage him by remaining mute spectators. Tickoo said the KPSS time and again had been asking the Central Government to take the matter in their hands and handover all these cases to better investigating agency tore-investigate all the killings of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley, within a time frame. |
