No woman SHO in 10 Jammu districts 3/24/2015 12:11:56 AM Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 23: Except for the women police station, no other police station in the 10 districts of Jammu has a woman police officer as its SHO. In the whole of Jammu region, there are, however, three women police officers who have been given important assignments - SSP, Kathua, SDPO, Nowshera, and Greater Kailash police post incharge. This is the treatment that is being meted out to the women officers by police department which otherwise is legally bound to fight for the rights of women. As per the information available with Early Times, Jammu district has a total of 25 police stations and nearly three dozen police posts. Samba district has six police stations but no woman police officer is posted there as SHO. Kathua district has seven police stations but none of them has a woman police officer as its head. The district, however, has a woman SSP. There are 10 police stations in Rajouri district but none of them is headed by a woman police officer. The district, however, has a woman IPS officer who has been posted as SDPO, Nowshera. Poonch and Doda have six police stations each while Udhampur and Reasi districts have nine and eight police stations respectively. These police stations and the police stations in Kishtwar and Ramban districts too do not have any woman police officer as thana head. In traffic wing of the state police too, no woman police officer has been posted in the field. Only women cops are seen deployed on the roads. Though the police department has several women police officers but they have not been given important assignments to handle. This is also for the first time that a woman officer has been posted as the district head. The police stations also do not have a woman Munshi.
