JK Hockey to organise 5th SJ National Hockey C'ship at Jammu

JAMMU, May 4 : The 5th Sub Junior National (boys Division-B) Hockey Championship organized by Jammu and Kashmir Hockey, is going to be held at K K Hakoo Stadium fom 6th May, 2015
Around 20 teams, representing different state units comprising of four divisions including hosts Jammu and Kashmir, will be taking part in this competition to be played on league-cum-knockout basis.
The league round is scheduled to be start from 7.30 am whereas the competition shall be formerly inaugurated by the Minister for Sports at 5 pm on 6th May at K K Hakhu Stadium, Jammu.
Working president of the Hockey J&K, Additional Director General of J&K Police (Armed), SM Sahai in an interaction with media, stated the whole schedule as such the Jammu and Kashmir has been placed in group D with Hockey Himachal, Hockey Bihar, Vidarbha Hockey Association and Chandigarh Olympic Association.
J&K State Sports Council and Hockey India are financially supporting the high budget event which is spread over 12-days while HDFC Bank and Aircel have also extended a helping hand in making the event a success.
It has been reliably learned that the State Sports Council has sanctioned a grant of Rs 16 lakh in addition to other on ground expenses to be occurred during the event.
Other prominent who were present included, general secretary of Hockey J&K, Romal Singh, Rajinder Singh (Treasurer), Siddharth Sharma (Joint Secretary of the State Sports Council) and Rajan Sharma (Divisional Officer).
Meanwhile, Incharge Secretary of the State Sports Council and Director General of Department of Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal, extended his best wishes to the organisers and those participating teams, especially hosts J&K.
He said that efforts are being made to get a new turf for the K K Hakhu Stadium so as to make Jammu one of the selected venues to host national level events by the Hockey India.
