Ashok of Amba Kids bags boys' title

JAMMU, May 4 : Ashok Singh of Amba Kids Home, Panthal became the new Reasi district sport climbing champion in Boys category upsetting Yasser, the winner of the last two years, in the Reasi District Sport Climbing Championship held at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here.
Yasser was further relegated to the third place when Anish Sharma clinched the second position among 31 participants in this category.
Similarly, Tanisha Rajput, the reigning champion in the sub junior girls category was also pushed to the third spot by Muskan Choudhary and Vishali Devi who clinched the first and second positions respectively. There was stiff competition in the sub junior boys' category in which Neeraj Singh, Anil Singh and Sunny Kumar bagged the first three positions.
About 62 boys and girls competed in only three categories of boys, sub junior boys and sub junior girls in lead climbing only. Since most of the participants were new to the game the competitions in speed climbing were not conducted. However, demonstration in speed climbing was given by senior climbers of the game. The competition was conducted exclusively by senior climbers. Whereas Puneet Sharma and Aman Arora were the Route setters Shashi Kant and Hardev Singh acted as Belayers. Shawetica Khajuria, a national Judge of the game was the chief judge of the competition. Sonam Sidharth was the organising secretary who was well assisted by Manik Slathia, a well qualified mountaineer.
Former MLA, Ashwani sharma who has been associated with the activities of the Association for a long time, was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed mementoes and medal amongst the winners. While addressing the gathering he congratulated the Association for organising four district competitions at the start of the year and hoped that the Association, despite infrastructure constraints, would soon produce more national and international champions.
He also expressed his gratitude towards the management of Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu who have provided a standard fiber glass 40ft high climbing wall and related facilities to the Association and also have been sponsoring regular coaching camps for the budding climbers.
