JAMMU, May 4: After the recent anti-India rally by hardliner Huriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Tral last Friday wherein the protestors waved Pakistani flags and also raised anti-India slogans, the union Ministry of Home Affairs has started to monitor the activities of various separatist directly, and has issued advisory to the Jammu and Kashmir government to keep a close watch on the activities of separatists.
While talking to "Early Times", the sources confirmed that the Union Home Ministry has asked the Mufti Syed led PDP-BJP government to keep strict track of separatists including Yasin Malik, Shabir Ahmed Shah, Mohammad Ashraf Sehraie and others, adding that the object of keeping close eye on separatists is to prevent the situation from taking ugly turn ahead of upcoming 59 days annual Amarnath Yatra schedule to begin from 2ndJuly 2015.
Sources said that any lenience given to the separatist could be detrimental to the peace and could threaten unity and integrity of the country. Beside asking the JK Home department to put the activities of Hurriyat leaders under surveillance, the MHA is also keeping hawk's eye on separatists anti India activities. The state government has also been instructed to take legal action against the separatist in case of any anti national activities on part of these separatists.
After fresh directions to the state government from MHA, the local agencies and the local police started working in tandem to thwart every ill design of anti-national elements so as to maintain peace and tranquility.
"Due to alertness of our troops on border, Pakistan has failed to infiltrate militants into Indian territory--- now they are using separatists to destabilize peace and tranquility who are not only indulging in anti-India propaganda--- but also interfering in religious matters like Amarnath Yatra with an aim to ignite communal flair" said the sources. The sources said that top MHA Officials who directly report to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and PMO were also in constant touch with senior police officials and officials of J&K Home department over the issue.
When contacted Minister of State in Prime Minister Office Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed had assured the union government that action will taken be against those responsible for Tral's anti-India rally held by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. However Dr. Jitendra Singh refused to comment on the directions issued by the MHA to state government.
"It is only Home Ministry that can comment over the issue --- I can only confirm that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed assured the government that his government will take action against the guilty persons including Geelani" said Dr. Jitendra Singh.
It is pertinent to mention that the fresh directive from Union Home Ministry came a day after Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed promised action against those responsible for waving Pakistani flags at Friday's rally addressed by Geelani. "Some people were involved in such activities. Action will be taken against those involved in such an act," Sayeed told journalists in Ahmedabad, recalling how separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat, who had raised pro-Pakistan slogans and 'waved Pakistani flags' at a rally attended by Geelani was put behind bars. Even though Chief Minister promises action, Geelani and his pro Pakistani supporters are yet to be arrested even after four days.
