Investigation agency accused of hushing up the case | CAPD's multi-crore carriage scam | | Mohd Irfan Early Times Report Jammu, May 26: Three years on, the agency investigating the infamous multi-crore CAPD carriage scam in Rajouri has been accused of hushing up the case in lieu of a handsome consideration. Sources informed early times that its more than two months since the new dispensation took over the charge but their criminal silence over this scam raises a question mark over its functioning. Minister for CAPD, Choudhary Zulfikar tries to streamline the functioning of the department but he shows no interest in this scam for reasons known best to him. They said a tainted official, Kewal Krishen who was AD Rajouri when this scam came to fore. "Two employees of CAPD were found depositing 2 Crr rupees in a hush-hush manner in a bank which attracted police attention but the investigating agency acted slow following reports that it was allegedly bribed by the tainted officials," they said. Reliable sources said that the Crime Branch has allegedly detected 12 cr from this allegedly tainted official and rest left amount is yet to be detected adding, tainted official is recently attached as I/C AD Enforcement from Reasi and if the investigating agency do thorough investigation it will open the can of worms. Sources divulge that the tainted official has "given freight charges to a dead ration dealer." The sources say the said official must necessarily be in the Chief Minister's list of corrupt officials whose 'assets are disproportionate to his known sources of income." They also said that some officials in the CAPD have benami property. SSP Crime Jammu, Mubashir Latifi said "I will not disclose you any information pertaining to scam on phone if you wish kindly come to my office "he maintained. The Minister CAPD Chowdhury Zulifkar Ali could not be contacted despite repeated efforts. |
