Gas agency owned by Azad’s relative involved in ‘black marketing’ | Police book manager, launch hunt to trace more culprits | |

Jammu May 26: The manager of Faridiya Gas Agency Doda owned by the relative of former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad was today booked for black marketing of LPG cylinders and selling new connections at exorbitant rates. The agency is owned by Javed Azad, who happens to be the close relative of Ghulam Nabi Azad. While talking to “Early Times” a senior police officer confirmed the registration of an FIR against Shabir Ahmed Natnoo, Manager Faridiya Gas Agency Doda. “The manager of the agency was booked after repeated complaints from many consumers were received by the police. The accused use to sell new LPG connections at exorbitant rates.” He said that after registration of an FIR, Police arrested the manager under section 420/471/468 RPC. Police after registration of an FIR also set the investigation rolling to trace out more culprits if any involved in duping the people of Doda. The people informed the police that the manager of the gas agency used to charge amount double or triple for every new connection against the government rate fixed at Rs 1450 as security for one cylinder (without gas), Rs 150 for regulator and Rs 422 for refilling of cylinder on subsidizes rates. The consumers had also complained that the gas agency had failed to provide the home delivery as per the norms and was selling LPG cylinders in black market. |
