MSSH to start OPD from next month in Jammu | 200 kidneys transplanted within 2 yrs by Max hospital | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: Max Super Specialty Hospital (MSSH) Mohali is going to start its Out Patient Department (OPD) in Jammu from next month and provide best medicare facilities to the patient. Addressing media persons, Senior Consultant-Nephrology and Transplant Physician Dr Munish Chauhan said that the Max hospital has performed more than 200 kidney successful transplant in less than 2 years which included region first ABO non-compatible and first transplant in HIV positive patient. He further said that doctors of MSSH broke blood barrier in organ transplant last year giving hope to patient looking for donors without blood group matching. Many patients, who didn't have a donor of same group in the family, could undergo hassle-free kidney transplant from their family donors without restriction of blood-matching. Moreover, the donor's operation was done laparoscopically, which was less painful and it helps to faster recovery and early return to work. Dr Vinay Sakhuja said that each year more than 1 lakh new patients developed kidney failure as unrecognized diabetes and BP across the country and about five lakh patients were dialysis, waiting for transplant. However, transplant would take place in only about 5000 cases annually due to shortage of donors to meet huge gap to encourage more and more organs donation from brain dead persons in addition to donors swapping and ABO-incompatible transplant.
