Unity is still a distant dream in Cong, some party leaders playing double game | Rebels hold meeting on Wednesday against GA Mir | | ET Report jammu, June 25: Despite presenting a united face during a function at Jammu on Moday, a group of Congress Ministers are still indulged into factionalism and infighting. Interestingly some of leaders, who are fuelling infighting in the parry, were very much present in Monday meeting to befool Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir. Credible sources said that a meeting of dissident Congress leaders was held on late Wednesday night at the residence of a senior Congress leader, who is known as staunch supporter of former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad. Interestingly this leader was very much present in Monday's Unity meeting and was sitting in the forefront to give an impression to the Mir's group that he was in the favour of unity. These Congress leaders are reportedly playing double game. On the one hand, they are attending official functions, on the other hand, they are organizing meetings of rebels in their own residence. Credible sources said that in the meeting which was held on Wednesday evening, most of the participants emphasised on accelerating their activities to counter Mir and his supporters. Rebel leaders are not ready to accept Mir as their leader so they have decided to continue their anti-party activities, although not openly to sabotage Mir's effort to unite the party. Credible sources said that some drawing room Congress leaders, who were sidelined by the newly appointed PCC president Ghulam Ahmed Mir, were more vocal in favour of intensifying activities to prove Mir as failed leader. Ghulam Ahmed Mir has disowned about half a dozen "drawing room" Congress leaders who had occupied important positions in the party for the last four decades. These Congress leaders are not known in every their mohallas but they had captured the posts like state general secretaries and state vice president. Such leaders are more aggressive against Mir because they were virtually abandoned by the newly appointed party president. Irked over ignoring them, such leaders are instigating other leaders not to accept Mir as their president. Credible source said that it was decided in Wednesday's meeting that parallel activities would be intensified to keep a check on Mir. |
