NABARD organizes sensitization programme | | | Early Times Report Reasi, June 26: National Bank for Agriculture Rural Development (NABARD) organized one day sensitization programme on Joint Liability Group (JLG) and Self Help Groups (SHG) for bankers and NGOs in Reasi district today. The workshop was attended by all the bank managers of district and District Officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Information, and Handicraft & Handloom were also present. The program was aimed at propagating the concept of Joint Liability Group among bankers to help rural women, small and marginal farmers, landless labourers and other farmers in getting bank credit support without collateral securities for undertaking minor economic activities in agriculture and allied sectors. Inaugurating the workshop, Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi-Bhawani Rukwal appealed to the participant bankers to be innovative and practical in helping the unemployed youths and farming community apart from extending financial assistance. "We should visit them after helping them financially so as to understand the problems they are facing in their venture. Only then we can be innovative and practical in helping them," Rukwal said. DDM NABARD-Ashi Sharma highlighted importance JLG credit linkage and SHG Credit linkage. She asked all banks to credit link SHGs having saving account with them. All banks agreed to this. Banks were informed that JLG loan has to be disbursed without taking any collateral or mortgage. Sharma informed that the first Farmer Producer Company of J&K has been registered at Pouni under name "Reasi Vegetable Producer Company Ltd" and all its members will be shortly covered by JK Bank under KCC scheme. |
