Former CM taunts separatist turned minister | Omar, Sajad fight it out on twitter | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 26: The former Chief Minister and National Conference working President Omar Abdullah on Friday took to the micro blogging site twitter to taunt the former separatist turned mainstream politician Sajad Gani Lone over BJP "rewarding" him with Animal Husbandry portfolio. After losing power Omar's popularity in the virtual world has declined manifolds and nobody seems to be taking his tweets seriously. When Omar was in power he used to communicate with people through twitter and even used to announce his major decisions through the micro-blogging site. Reporters used to wait for Omar to tweet when he was the Chief Minister and his tweets used to turn into news stories. Soon after Omar's party National Conference lost the 2014 assembly elections, Omar became insignificant and reporters lost interests in his tweets as he was no more the Chief Minister. During the past six months Omar has taken to the twitter on many occasions but has failed to make the headlines. As newsmakers know it very well that he is no more the chief minister and there are lakhs of people on twitter who keep on tweeting but no one takes them seriously. "It seems Omar Abdullah is apparently frustrated due to media not paying any attention to him. To make his presence felt Omar has started taunting people to make news" said an analyst. Omar today attacked Sajad Gani Lone after the separatist-turned-minister in PDP-BJP government stated that he was close to BJP since the times of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Following the Peoples' Conference leader's interview to a local daily in which he supported the presence of RSS in Kashmir, Omar attacked the Minister for Science & Technology and Animal Husbandry in PDP-BJP government, over his portfolio. "And for this all Sajaad got was a few sheep & goats to look after! I'm sure the RSS will help next time around," Omar wrote on twitter today. Lone hit back at the former chief minister saying "@abdullah_omar oh I forgot I have renewable energy too which ur (your) Dad (Farooq Abdullah) had in the UPA regime," Lone wrote in his reply to Omar on Twitter. Sajad and Omar fighting it out on the twitter have brought Omar in the limelight and he is enjoying the media attention which he has got after a long time. On the other hand Sajad Lone, once a darling of media, has maintained a low profile since the day he has become the minister in the PDP-BJP regime. He has remained inaccessible to his friends in media and has not participated in any of the discussions on various news channels. He seems to have forgotten his much hyped slogan of change and looks content with the Animal Husbandry Ministry, which he bagged in the BJP quota. Not a long back Sajad used to ensure that he remains in the news and participates in all the discussions on TV channels to remain in the limelight, while Omar used to snub media men and had made twitter a medium to tell media what he wanted. However, the change of guard in Jammu and Kashmir has led to the reversal of roles. |
