Jammu, June 27: Water Works (PHE) Employees Association under the banner of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, Jammu Province held protest demonstration against PHE authorities for ignoring their burning and genuine demands Addressing the protestors, Shiv Kumar Sharma, State President of INTUC expressed concern over the pendency of wages for scores of months and also expressed his worry about the increasing pendency of monthly wages of the daily wagers. Keeping in view the inflation he said that the matter of pending wages in arrears was a cruel joke on the working classes, he demanded to release all the pending wages immediately which is for more than 30 months and not to allow pendency of wages in future. He said that the future of thousands of daily wagers is still hanging in balance despite the fact that they have put numerous precious years of their lives in the service of the department. He wanted the Govt. to formulate a proper policy for all Daily Wagers regularization in Govt. service. He alleged that while discrimination against the PHE daily wagers is going on un-abated the Govt. has started harassing even the regular permanent employees of PHE Department by not paying them the arrears of 17% D.A hike. He said this is highly biased as all other departments have already paid the said arrears. |
