DC backtracks, denies having issued any order necessitating National Anthem in schools | Introduction of National Anthem in educational institutions | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar June 27: Merely five days after issuing directions to Chief Education Officer Kishtwar to issue circular with regard to necessitating of National Anthem in Schools during morning prayers across Kishtwar District, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar today backtracked from his previous stand that he has issued any directions in this regard. The backtracking in the stand of DC comes in the aftermath of his meeting with the deputation of Muslim community today. As per details available with "Early Times", a deputation of Muslim community led by chief cleric Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Moulana Farooq Kichloo called on DC Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan at his office chamber and showed his resentment towards him over the issue of directions to all the institutions necessitating singing of National Anthem in morning prayers and termed it anti-Islam. Moulana Farooq Kichloo informed DC Kishtwar that there is great resentment among the representatives of Muslim community over the direction issued by administration as many stanza's in National Anthem are prohibited in Islam, added that no student from Muslim community will recite the National Anthem or any other activity which is prohibited in Islam. Reacting to the anger and concern of Muslim community, DC Kishtwar informed the visiting deputation that he had issued no directions in this regard which is contrary to his stand taken by DC Kishtwar during his meeting with ABVP representatives on 22-06-2015 at his office chamber followed by the circular No. CEO/K/2015/6515-75 dated 23-06-2015 wherein Chief Education Officer Kishtwar issued the circular with regard to introduction of prayer, National Anthem and Physical Training in morning assemblies of the schools. "All the heads of the institutions of this District I.e. Principals HSS (Govt./Private)/Headmasters (HS/GHS/MS/PS Govt./Private) are hereby directed to introduce the prayer, National Anthem and Physical Training in the morning Assembly in their respective schools henceforth. Any non compliance shall be viewed seriously." read CEO Kishtwar circular No. CEO/K/2015/6515-75 dated 23-06-2015. CEO Kishtwar on 22-06-2015 while talking to "Early Times" confirmed that DC Kishtwar issued him the directions to issue circular with regard to introduction of National Anthem in morning assemblies at schools. Ghulam Nabi Dar, Shabir Ahmed Beigh, Abdul Kabir Rangrez, Abdul Rashid Gilkar, Atta Mohammad Gilkar, Ghulam Nabi Gilkar are other members of the deputation. It is pertinent to mention that Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Pareshad (ABVP), District unit Kishtwar on 22-06-2015 held a protest outside Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Office demanded for making National Anthem compulsory in all educational institutions of the state including Kishtwar District wherein DC Kishtwar while reacting to the demands of ABVP issued on spot direction to Chief Education Officer Kishtwar to issue circular not only to introduce national anthem in morning assemblies of all educational institutions, but also directed CEO Kishtwar to direct heads of all educational institutions to start Physical Training exercise and morning prayers in schools without any delay. |
