Inhospitable: Headless BDA fails to procure 'better facilities' to tourists | | | Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, June 27: The tourism potential of the picturesque Bhaderwah of Doda district popularly known as Chhota Kashmir still is brushed aside from tall claims of revival of tourism sector in state by the present coalition as in the absence of permanent Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) fails to offer the visitors even the basic requisite facilities. Official sources on anonymity said, "The lackadaisical approach of present coalition towards the 'Chota Kashmir' - the Bhaderwah could be gauged from that the Bhaderwah Development Authority still is headless within the tall claims of state government about revival of tourism sector across the state. Ironically this happens when the State government is contemplating to develop existing and to explore more tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir besides providing high-standards infrastructure facilities to visitors to sustain their stay in the state. "The hutments and infrastructure under Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA) has become vulnerable to the anti-social elements in the absence of Chief Executive Officer and other dedicated staff, sources said, adding, "most of the hutment are presenting ugly look as some elements not only damage the property of BDA but also go scot free courtesy lack of staff.' "This BDA is in a complete mess as lack of staff at tourism huts is resulting into majority of tourists moving turning towards private hotels and a few who dare to visit BDA hutments they face a lot of miseries like lack of drinking water and other basic faculties. Lack of enthusiasm from the state government towards Bhaderwah, tourism related traders are opting new alternatives for their livelihood, a local youth entrepreneur said on proximity. He said that problem doesn't end here as traders are witnessing disturbing incidents here at tourist spots outside the main city as many youngsters come here to carry out their illicit activities. "The panoramic and picturesque spots at upcountry locations are now turned to garbage dumps as one finds vehicles parked haphazardly by local hooligans and scattered empty liquor bottles, tobacco sachets, food packets, plastic bottles and etc, lamented a security guard of Tourism Department on condition of anonymity. |
