Leh, June 29: The National Secular Forum (NSF) today held a day long convention at Leh under the guidance and chairmanship of NSF president Sukhdev Singh wherein number of issues pertaining to youth community of Ladakh were discussed and taken up for consideration of authorities. Addressing the convention, Singh blamed the state government for ignoring the Ladakh region on developmental front especially, the issues of youth. He said both Jammu and Kashmir regions have got good number of colleges to cater the need of students but Ladakh region have been ignored and given just four colleges across such a vast area. "The students here have to travel lot of distance to reach their respective colleges. Keeping in view the topography of this region more colleges and other professional institutions must be established here to cater the educational needs of Ladakhi students. He also sought campus of University of Jammu at Ladakh on the pattern of Kashmir University campus so as to provide further choice to the Ladakhi students. "The students of Ladakh have huge dependence over Kashmir University for PG courses or otherwise they have to travel to Jammu for the purpose hence it is imperative for Jammu University to open its campus at Ladakh," he expressed. |
