State subject law 6/30/2015 12:38:02 AM In 1927, Maharaja Hari Singh issued a Royal Decree introducing the state subject law, which now has been renamed as Permanent Resident. The Maharaja promulgated the law to protect the distinct ethnic identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
