CM pitches for establishment of telecom, banking facilities on this side of LoC | Amarnath Yatra arrangements figure in talks between Mufti, Union Home Secretary | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, June 29: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has pitched for vibrant people to people and business contacts on both sides of Line of Control (LoC). The CM has also impressed upon the need of putting in place the banking facilities to make the cross LoC trade meaningful in real sense. During his meeting with Union Home Secretary, L C Goyal who called on him today, Mufti said that cross LoC trade can become meaningful in the real sense as and when the banking facilities are in place on both sides of the LoC. Preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra also came up for discussion between the chief minister and the union Home Secretary. Referring to the cross LoC trade, Mufti said that since businessmen have been vouching for setting up banking and telecom facilities it would be more than prudent that these things are put in place. He said establishment of banking and telecom facilities would give the necessary fillip to the cross LoC trade. "Mufti Sayeed also discussed with the Union Home Secretary the issue of making cross-LoC trade and travel more vibrant by providing banking and telecom facilities to businessmen as well as broadening the scope of people-to-people contact beyond the divided families," said an official spokesman. Both Mufti and Goyal had threadbare discussions over the arrangements made for the Amarnath Yatra that commences from July 2 from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes. Both the CM and union Home Secretary reiterated that complete arrangements would be made so that the Yatra passes off peacefully without any untoward incident whatsoever. It would be in place to mention here that three tier security arrangements would be put in place for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The army personnel would be entrusted with the responsibility of keeping a watch and tab on the activities going on at the mountains, peaks and higher reaches of the areas where from the Yatra would pass. At the same time Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel would be given the job of maintaining law & order on the ground. Some of the ministers in the Mufti led government of Peoples Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janta Party government in the state visited Pahalgam and Baltal over the past few days in order to oversee arrangements made for the Amarnath Yatra. The state government and the different security agencies are expected to make arrangements so that the Yatra passes off peacefully and in an able manner. |
