Baig's bombshell: Mufti unhappy with coalition | | | Early Times Report srinagar, June 29: Senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party and Member Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baig has dropped a bombshell by claiming that Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is "not happy" with the coalition in Jammu and Kashmir. Baig's statement comes a few days after, another senior PDP leader and MP Tariq Hameed Kara had suggested that PDP should rethink about its alliance with PDP. Baig, who held the post of Deputy Chief Minister in Ghulam Nabi Azad led government in JK, is considered to be a close aide of Mufti and is the founder member of the party. In an interview to a national daily Baig said: "I don't think coalition in JK would complete its full term. But it can complete six years if it adopts some corrective measures. After all, a man is not dead till he is dead. If God forbid, this experiment fails, it will be a cruel joke on the people of Jammu and Kashmir." On the Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed, Baig said that he should have directly sat with PM Modi to carve out a better agenda of alliance between the two coalition partners. "Mufti sahib asked me for some suggestions on certain issues. I suggested a few things but probably he forgot. Maybe he is too worried or feels let down. Maybe he feels betrayed or even caged (by people around him)," Baig said. The statement of Muzaffar Hussain Baig has created ripples in the PDP-BJP camp as many people feel that it can be an indication of the fact about what the Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed is feeling and it can be considered a feeler from the Chief Minister's side. A senior PDP leader, who wish not to be named while talking to Early Times said, "Many leaders including Mufti Sahab are not happy with the Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu. Most PDP leaders feel that agenda of alliance is just a farce. It seems minutes of the meetings, between Drabu and BJP senior leader Ram Madhav, were declared as agenda of alliance by the two leaders as both of them were under tremendous pressure." The leader said that interestingly, none of the leaders either from BJP or PDP have put their signatures on the much hyped agenda of alliance. "Truth is coming to fore slowly and it has put Drabu in a tight spot," he added. Sources revealed that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is not happy with the style of functioning of many BJP ministers and during the past 100-days, the Chief Minister has told them on many occasions to mend their ways and act responsibly. "BJP ministers in fact are acting as big impediments and are not allowing the Centre to provide the requisite help to the state," sources added. They said that PDP top leadership is contemplating to hold a detailed meeting with the BJP top brass including the party president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clear the prevailing confusion. "If PDP leaders are able to sort out the issues with the BJP top brass then it would be okay. If they fail to resolve these issues then situation can take any turn," sources claimed. Pertinently, the BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav during his recent visit to Jammu and Kashmir had reportedly met a few people who are close to NC leaders and notion was created as if that BJP is looking for options. |
