Mufti Govt terminates 60 tainted officials | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 30: The Mufti Muhammad Sayeed led Government has reportedly terminated at least 60 officials for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices. Sources told Early Times the final decision to terminate these officials was taken this afternoon after various agencies including CID and other departments forwarded the list of the "tainted officials" to the Chief Minister's secretariat. "The list prepared by the agencies had been sub mitted to the CM's secretariat a few days ago. The report contains the details of the properties of the tainted officials and complete details of their assets which they have accumulated during their tenure," sources added. They said the list has been prepared by the State Vigilance Organization (SVO) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Scores of top officials, including some bureaucrats have been facing corruption charges. Sources said that list contains the name of more than 60 officials, including KAS officers, Revenue officials, tehsildars, a few low rung officials from the administration, officials from PHE and R&B department. Unconfirmed reports said that a few officials from SRTC, Social Welfare Department, Urban and Local Bodies and Finance Department also figure in the list. The investigating agencies have reportedly described all these officials as the "most corrupt" and have asked the government to act tough against them. Sources said the these officials have already been told that they have been terminated and they have been asked to collect their three months salaries in coming two to three days. "Any official terminated by the government is supposed to draw three months salary at a time before he stops reporting in the concerned department. These officials have also been asked to draw their three months salaries at one time," said an official. It's in place to mention here that Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed soon after taking over the reins of the state in month of March this year had asked the investigating agencies to prepare a list of corrupt officials and make a water tight case against them. Sources said that formal announcement vis-a-vis termination of the officials is likely to be madeon Wednesday. |
