KVK organizes training on integrated pest management | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch under the patronage of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu conducted farmers training programme on Integrated Pest and Disease Management in Maize & Rajmash under mixed cropping at Loran in Mandi tehsil of Poonch District. According to press release, Dr. Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator of KVK-Poonch welcomed the participants and highlighted that insects and diseases are major enemy of crops and it is must to keep a vigil on first incidence so that immediate and effective control measures may be taken up. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, SMS Plant Protection while interacting with the farmers heard the problems faced by them in Maize and Rajmash under mixed cropping. He emphasized upon the importance of incorporating the integrated pest and disease management strategy in the field for the control of important pests and diseases for obtaining optimum yield production in the crop. He demonstrated wet and dry methods of seed treatment with Carbendazim @ 2gm/kg of seeds for the management of soil and seed borne diseases. He also apprised the farmers that the application of Carbofuron @ 1kg/Kanal in the soil after 20 days of sowing is very effective for management of cutworm and the aerial spray of Carbendazim @ 2gm/Litre is effective for the control of anthracnose in Maize & Rajmash under mixed cropping. |
