Sacked officer vows to fight legally for justice | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report
Anantnag, July 3: Among sixty three officers who were recently sacked by the state government, Mohammad Yousf Bhat (KAS) has decided to adopt legal path against his termination, accusing the government of adopting pick and choose in punishing corrupt officials. "I was victimized on political grounds. This is open secret. Government used pick and choose policy in punishing the corrupt," Bhat said while talking to Early Times. He said that he was aware of the government action against him. "I was totally aware of the situation and got the clue when I was transferred from Pahalgam Development Authority to State women commission," he said. Questioning the ground on which he along with other sixty three officials were sacked Bhat said, "what is the ground of my termination. I demand an answer from the government. If it is non-former or deadwood then let me remind that since my induction into KAS, I served the government at most important positions, headed three important tourism development authorities and managed to increase revenue." He said that Governor and state government had thrice appreciated his work and lauded his integrity. "I have got three appreciation letters from the governor and the state administration that too after VOK implicated me in baseless case," Bhat said, adding he was victimized on political grounds. "I am not lying, after VOK registered FIR against me I went to State accountability commission. Comission abserved that I am being implicated which is the reason commission served notices to all other top officers," he said. He said that he was targeted by a senior government functionary. Preventing big-wigs, politicians and beaurecrats from raising construction at Pahalgam was also a reason behind his termination. "You are yourself witness to the fact that how much efforts I put in to stop further illegal constructions at Pahalgam as CEO of PDA. I demolished 135 illegal constructions, sealed 28 structures which I am being told are again functional and doing business illegally and installed CCTV cameras at checking post. I am in touch with legal experts and will fight for justice," he added. Bhat said, "If government labeled me tainted on mere registration of FIR against me then what about those who remained behind bars for more than three days and are accused in multi-crore scams. Those who were charged with similar offences are enjoying prize postings in government," said Bhat, who was inducted into KAS in year 2003, has served at many important positions. After his induction, then Mufti-led collation government had posted him in Housing and Urban development department. Bhat is among the officers whom against which Vigilance in 2005 registered a case (No.18 of 2005 VOK) for causing loss to state exchequer by fraudulently withdrawing payments on account of electrification of a large number of Panchayat Ghars in South Kashmir. Those against whom FIR stands registered including then Deputy Director Rural Development Department Kashmir and now MLC, Syed Asgar Ali, then BDO Qoimoh Kulgam, Zaffar Altaf, then BDO Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Ganie, then BDO Dachnipora Abdul Hamid Wani and then BDO Pohloo Mohammad Saleem Khanday. The State Accountability Commission has served notices on then Minister Peerzada Mohd Syed, and retired IAS officer and former Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal who is currently in People's Democratic Party. However, Bhat continued to hold important positions. He was posted as CEO Sonmarg Development Authority, CEO Kokernag Development Authority and CEO Pahalgam Development authority and at the time of termination, he was posted as Secretary, State Commission for Women. |
