Distt admn, JMC conduct drive against unhygienic 'food stuff' during Ramzan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jammu S Simrandeep Singh and Commissioner JMC Saujanya Sharma (K.A.S), a joint team of officials from district administration alongwith Legal Metrology Department conducted surprise inspections of meat/mutton and establishments to ensure the quality products are sold to buyers especially in the holy month of Ramzan. The joint team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Department, legal Metrology Deptt (LMD) Controller Drug and Food Deptt escorted by Police visited various markets on Friday to check the items sold to consumers. The JMC team headed by the Municipal Veterinary Officer/Zonal Officer-II (Sanitation) Dr Zaffar Iqbal visited Panjtirthi, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Shahidi Chowk, Talab Khatikan etc. the team directed mutton and poultry sellers to maintain proper hygienic conditions and provide good quality. The shopkeepers dealing with cooked food establishments were directed to serve good quality of food and prepare in proper hygienic conditions besides cautioning them against using domestic LPG instead of commercial gas. They were also asked to make use of gloves, aprons and caps while handling the food items and not to use polythene carry bags. The Shopkeepers also directed to display the rate lists. The teams realized a compound fine of Rs 10800/- from the defaulters. |
