JK SAD appeals to support Gajan Singh in DGPC election | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: All Jammu and Kashmir State Akali Dal appealed Sikh community to support Gajan Singh State President Akali Dal who is contesting the election of District Gurdawara Parbandak Committee from Jammu West constituency. Addressing press conference, Gajan Singh said that it is only by the honest relentless efforts of State's Sikh community under the able leadership of Late Mahant Bachiter Singh ji of Dera Nangal Sahib, that the J&K Sikh Gurdwaras and Religious Endowment Act of 1973, has come to existence, that provides for the proper management of the Sikh Gurdwaras and Gurdwara properties to be managed by State Gurdwaras Parbandhak Board (SGPB) constituted through 11 elected members from each District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees (DGPCs) of the J&K State. He further said that nevertheless, it goes on past record that this purpose of the Act, and sprit of Sikh Community that lead to its enactment, has been jeopardized by vested interests that have succeeded by exploiting the ignorance, and provoked division in sangat by use of money power and political interference from government etc., in order to grab the management of Gurdawaras to run it as their political forum for their petty vested gains. |
