Militants desperate to infiltrate, may disrupt Amarnath pilgrimage: Lt Gen Singh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3:With the beginning of two-month-long annual Amarnath pilgrimage, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps (16 Corps) Lt Gen K H Singh today said militants are desperate to infiltrate into the Indian territory and may disrupt the ongoing yatra. "We have inputs that around 200 militants have been waiting at the launching pad across the Line of Control to sneak into this side of the fence with an aim to target the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Lt Gen Singh told reporters on the sidelines of Jhangar Day celebrations in Jhangar Sector of Nowshera area in Rajouri district. The GOC said, "The training camps are still operational on the other side of the border in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. Anti-national elements are making hard efforts to enter the territory of Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt peace and spoil the smooth conduct of the Amarnath pilgrimage. "We are on alert and a tight vigil as well as surveillance is being maintained on the LoC, he said adding that no such element will be allowed to enter this side as Army is prepared enough to foil all nefarious designs. The Lt General, however, ruled out any information about the presence of ISIS camps across the LoC.
