Farmers demand irrigation water supply, subsidy on KCC | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, July 5: Dozens of farmers hailing from Khilo Chack Panchayat Kishanpur, Hiranagar sector today expressed their grievances before Peoples' Democratic Party's leader Deepak Raina. They were demanding sufficient water for irrigation purposes and subsidy on Kissan Credit Card KCC as announced by State Finance Minister during presentation of State Assembly Budget 2015-16. Delegation of farmers met Deepak Raina and formulated several demands and expressed concern over the working of Irrigation and Flood Control Department that has failed to provide sufficient water supply in different canals for irrigation purposes. The delegation asked how they could irrigate the agriculture land without sufficient water supply. They also demanded subsidy on loan under KCC as JK Finance Minister announced to subsidized 50% of loan but order is awaited to implement. Deepak Raina heard patiently and ensured to proceed with their demands to concern authority but when he raised issue of insufficient water supply before concerned authority to telephonic call, concerned officers refused to discuss the matter. Raina appealed to Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to take serious step against tainted officers who even could not hear their sufferings than mitigate. Raina said that Irrigation lands have been encroached from Lakhanpur to Hiranagar but despite having the knowledge of all these, no action has been taken in this regard. He said encroachment affects irrigation supply that triggers rage among concerned farmers. He demanded to identify encroached lands and stern action against grabbers to vacate such lands for proper irrigation supply |
