Man held for attempting to rape minor girl | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, July 28: In a shocking incident, Kishtwar police today arrested 45 year old person for allegedly attempting rape on minor girl in Draba area of Kishtwar District situated on the outskirt, of Kishtwar town. The incident took place when the victim, a student of 5th class was returning home from school after the schools were closed in the morning on account of death of former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam. As per police the accused identified as Surjeet Kumar Shan son of Ishar Das Shan resident of Shan Mohallah Kishtwar after noticing the minor girl followed her and while finding her alone at an isolated place, the accuse overpowered the minor girl and tried to commit the rape on her, but due to the brave effort of one women who after listening the hue and cry of the minor raised the alarm and started pelting the stones on the accused who later escape from the spot but was overpowered by the police and local people who assembled in large number. As soon as Kishtwar police received an information about the incident, in charge SHO Police Station Kishtwar Nayeem-ul-Haq Mattoo immediately rushed to the spot and arrested the accuse and booked him in FIR No. 123/2015 U/S 363/376/511 RPC against the accused after parents of the minor girl lodged the written complaint of the incident with police. The locals alleged that the accused was a habitual criminal and was involved in similar cases in past as well. The people demanded stern action against the culprit so that such incident could not be repeated in future. The people also hailed the role of brave women who fought with the accused to save the minor from falling prey to the ill design of the accused person. |
