India leaves Pak red faced, NSA level talks called off | No Kashmir, no separatists, only terrorism | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 22: Frustrated by India remaining firm on its resolve to just discuss terrorism during the NSA level talks between Pakistan and India, as expected neighbouring country on late Saturday evening called off the talks citing that conditions put forward by India were unacceptable. Pakistan's decision to cancel the talks came after India hardened its position that the talks would be only on terrorism and Kashmir would not be in the agenda. According to the reports Pakistani establishment was of the opinion that Aziz was not welcome in India after foreign minister Sushma Swaraj's news conference where she set a midnight deadline for Pakistan to decide whether it wants to stick to its demand that Kashmir should be in the agenda for the talks. A political analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Pakistan from day one was not interested in holding talks with India as New Delhi had made it clear that focus of the talks would be on terrorism and no other issues would be discussed." He said that Pakistan knows it very well that India has got enough evidence to prove that Pakistan is abetting terrorism and is sending terrorists into India. "There is no doubt about the fact that India had an upper hand and Pakistan was at receiving end. Ceasefire violations, inviting Kashmiri separatists to meet Pakistan NSA was nothing just a drama aimed at creating confusion and building ground to stay away from the talks," the analyst claimed. Pertinently, the Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had declared that "There will be no talks," when asked what would happen if Pakistan did not accept the position outlined by her on separatists and Kashmir. Despite India making its position clear, Pakistan went ahead and invited separatists to have dinner with Pakistan NSA, Sartaj Aziz. Separatists who wait for a chance to meet their mentors from across the border gave a damn to the repeated advises to stay away from meeting the Pakistan NSA and they reached Delhi one day before the expected arrival of Sartaj Aziz. As expected the separatists who reached the national capital were arrested and put behind bars. A Kashmir watcher said, "Pakistan has realized that it has lost the proxy war it has been fighting in Jammu and Kashmir since 1990. Pakistan stands exposed in front of the international community as India has given enough evidence to the entire world about Pakistan being the breeding ground for terrorists." He said that Pakistan has got nothing to talk about as its leaders have misled their country by resorting to mere rhetoric. "Pakistan is a failed state and it calling of NSA level talks with India is an ample proof of it," he added. |
